With FIPS 140-2 Validation, Enovate Medical becomes the First Connected EHR Workstation on Wheels for Federal Government Networks
Press Release | Murfreesboro, TN | October 21, 2020
Enovate Medical Workstations on Wheels meet FIPS 140-2 security requirements
Enovate Medical announced today that its hardware and software have completed the rigorous NIST (U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technologies) testing. Its products are now certified to connect to the Federal Government networks, including VA medical facilities and DoD installations. With Enovate’s Envoy and Encore EcoFlex clinical workstations on wheels and its cloud-based Rhythm asset management software platform passing the FIPS 140-2 security requirements, Enovate Medical is the only EHR workstation vendor to earn this recognition.
The VA and DoD Electronic Health Record (EHR) Modernization Program was established to develop the next-generation platform for a modern EHR infrastructure. This EHR modernization creates a need within the VA and DoD system for workstations on wheels that meet the government’s stringent security requirements.
“The VA and DoD are in the process of modernizing their EHR infrastructure,” explained Bob Brolund, CEO of Enovate Medical. “With any real-time EHR system, it is essential to have a robust digital security strategy in place – but until now, no clinical workstation on wheels vendor had received the Federal Government’s FIPS 140-2 certification. Enovate Medical is proud to have met these requirements.”
Secure architecture and secure data form the foundation of a modern EHR infrastructure. “Shortcuts aren’t acceptable where health data is concerned,” explained Mark Dalen, Enovate Medical’s CTO. “Our certified, secure cloud-based approach creates a complete separation between the veteran’s health information and the machine data required for operational efficiency. Enovate Medical invested a year’s effort to meet the FIPS 140-2 cryptography standards on sensitive data within the Federal Government.”
Enovate Medical partnered with Four Points Technology, a CVE-verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, to deliver this EHR solution to the VA and DoD. “We have a mission to support successful care for our veterans. Partnering with Enovate Medical allows us to bring a leading-edge EHR solution to the VA and DoD that also meets their security standards,” said Jason Goldberg, Four Points Technology Vice President of Sales. “We’re excited about the operational and clinical benefits that Enovate Medical can introduce into the government healthcare space.”
